The Northern Illinois Horseshoe League welcomes new teams before opening day and individual players throughout the season. Whether you already have a group ready to pitch or you are looking for a team that needs an extra player, this page is the best place to start.
Individuals are welcome all season long as substitute players or for permanent team spots when a team has room.
Full teams traditionally join before opening day so the schedule, divisions, and weekly matchups can be set correctly.
A team usually consists of 4 to 6 players. NIHL can often help new teams connect with available sponsor locations and open court slots.
What New Teams Should Know
Teams should contact NIHL before the season begins. A team needs enough players for weekly matches and a captain or main contact who can receive league updates. Finding a sponsor location is usually not a major roadblock, since some current venues have available slots and several sponsors may be open to hosting an additional team.
